I am presently working on a body of work that I am calling

TRAVELOGUE- a continual journey.

Traveling is a process that challenges my creative sensibilities and develops awareness and connections to the world around me. I am inspired by the happenstance, interactions and unexpected experiences that occurs when I leave behind the mundane day to day.

I am cognitive of how my role as the artist changes while on the road. I am a voyeur and at times, the participant. Once embarked on my journey, I am open to the multi-sensory exchanges with strangers, friends and places. I record my experiences through drawing, photography, writing and memory

I  am creating  a collection of paintings that is inspired by travel, with a focus on collaborations derived from creative engagement with people I meet and stay with. 



What will  the creative exchange be?

Any creative endeavor is possible, from art lessons to site specific work. The more inventive the more interesting the exchange becomes.

I will document and record my experiences through film, photography , writing, drawing. 

Back in the studio, I will unpack these snapshots and begin constructing these narratives onto the canvas. By layering, connecting juxtaposing images and interfacing with memories of ’felt’ experiences of sounds, smells and touch; , I will create poetic spaces for which the viewer can enter.

I am presently looking for people who would be interested in  participating and supporting me in this painting project. I think it would be a wonderful exchange and lots of fun! If you are interested,  I will give you more details once I hear from you .

walking the streets of NYC

I love NYC. It is a candy store for artists. The visual excitement and cultural experiences bombard all my senses. It is all encompasing and invigorating. Inspired and happily exhausted I return to Vancouver pulsating with new energy. Inhaling  a deep breathe of fresh wet air I begin to melt back into the Vancouver groove but with a renewed sense of anything is possible and a work ethic that goes with it.

Speaking of work. In the past 2 weeks I cranked out 10 still life paintings for my gallery in Seattle. My Stills are my signature work that I started painting ten years ago when I was raising my children on my own and my world was my home. These paintings are about the home and for the home.

Painting my stills is contemplative and skill building.  They inspire my  poetic narrative paintings.

It is about striking a balance for me.

Talking about BALANCE. Teaching is a passion of mine. I want to inspire others and share my knowledge and spread the love of painting.

As much as I liked my last website, it had limitations. Now I can upload information myself which will make it an interactive, user-friendly site. YEAH!

Believe it or not, but this has been a project that lasted me a soul-searching year! The designing of the website became a metaphor for redesigning and finding clarity in my art and my life.

I have come to appreciate and celebrate all that I have done and continue to do so. I am a multi-dimensional person who is as diverse in my art as I am in my teaching. I am a change-maker, a motivator and inspirer;  a creator of  small ripples of change in people’s lives. What an amazing  journey so far!

My website acts as a window where you can see a selection of my life’s work , latest paintings, and be informed about my projects, exhibitions and painting courses. Under News, I will use writing, visuals and videos as a way to bring to you insightful thoughts and views on my art work and demos on techniques and methods in drawing and painting. I am excited about the new possibilities!

I believe that Artists are Cultural Engineers and that they are integral and essential to our communities. Artists are visionaries and we put ideas into concrete form. We take risks and work out of the box. Disciplined and commitment come with the territory and  art making is a practice that is a lifetime pursuit. Artist don’t retire.
