Traveling challenges my creative sensibilities, develops my awareness and connections to the world around me. I am inspried by the happen chance , interactions and unexpected experiences that occur ‘in the field’. The mundane day to day is left behind and life unflolds in a flowing, organic way.
My role as artist shifts on the road. I am a voyeur and at times, the participant. Once embarked on my journey, I am open to the multi-sensory exchanges with strangers, friends and places. I record my experiences by drawing in my sketchbook, photography, writing and memory.
Once back in my studio , I unpack my memories and recordings of the sights and sounds and begin to create poetic spaces for which the viewer can enter and with their own world view create a room of their own.
