Formative years is essential in understanding the development of the artist. This is a selection of my earlier work giving a context in which my recent work can be viewed. My singular most influential historical movement is post-war abstract expressionism. Painters from that time influenced me like Archille Gorky, William Dekooning, Jackson Pollock and Sam Francis . My most direct formative influences were those of the Toronto abstract painting of the 60′s and 70′s. My mentors were Graham Coughtry, Gordon Rayner and Dennis Burton.
World views change, but the passion and the angst, beauty and the rawness of life continues. My work responds to the present always aware of what came before.
